Obviously, my students are the greatest source for feedback. Here are some of the comments I received after both presentations…

“This was such a powerful message! I think students in middle school need to hear it.”

“It really gave me something to think about and consider how I need to make sure everyone I know is safe.”

“Listening to these stories, it was complete silence in the auditorium.”

“The personalization of Deputy Henderson and the family members really made me listen.”

As a principal, the conversation with teachers always centers around whether any presentation is worth students losing “instructional time”. My students told their teachers this was one of the best presentations they have ever seen. Some staff also participated and were also able to talk to any “skeptics”. My response is we are making sure they do not lose their lives so yes, it is worth every minute!
